CLaiRITY

Accessibility-first computer education. A teaching system that guides users through Mac applications with voice, visuals, and patience.

The Problem

Learning to use a computer shouldn’t require being able to see a tiny cursor, read small text, or follow fast-moving tutorials. Most computer education assumes able-bodied users with perfect vision and hearing. CLaiRITY doesn’t.

What It Does

CLaiRITY is a desktop application that teaches users to navigate Mac applications through:

  • Voice guidance — Clear, paced spoken instructions using macOS text-to-speech
  • Visual highlighting — On-screen indicators showing exactly where to click
  • Multiple learning modes — Watch Me (demonstration), Guide Me (assisted), Test Me (independent practice)
  • Accessible pace control — Normal, Slow, and Accessible (120 WPM) speeds

Technical Details

  • Guided lessons across 24 categories
  • Python backend with macOS Accessibility API integration
  • Electron-based lesson browser UI
  • Local-first architecture — no cloud dependency
  • AXUIElement-based element detection
